ARTIST BIO

Liz Leupold is a contemporary jeweler and metalsmith currently residing in Albany, New York. She graduated from State University of New York at New Paltz in May 2019 with a BFA in Metal.

 

Liz is a featured artist in the initiative One For the Future, as a part of NYC Jewelry Week. Her work has been shown in: NYC Jewelry Week trunk show in collaboration with Jonathan Adler, 2019; through the interstice, her BFA thesis exhibition at the Samuel Dorsky Museum of Art, 2019; denizen, part of NYC Jewelry Week 2018; both the Penland Auction and the Show and Tell at Penland School of Crafts, 2018; the Foundation Exhibition at SUNY New Paltz, 2016; and multiple open studios at SUNY New Paltz throughout her time there.In 2015, she received the Artistic Expression Award for Albany County. She also received both the Chair Selection Award and Student Selection Award at the Foundation Exhibition at SUNY New Paltz.

In 2018, Liz was a part of the Art Schools Collaborative at Haystack Mountain School of Crafts. She attended a workshop led by Lauren Kalman at Penland School of Crafts in July 2018. She spent the summer of 2018 working for the goldsmith, John Fritze Jr., as his assistant in his jewelry shop. She has worked for the SUNY New Paltz metal studio technician as his assistant and as the metal tool room inventory manager.
